MMRI
In 2007, the Mater Medical Research Institute (MMRI) gained a momentum, which will see the institute emerge as a driving force in medical research in the years to come.
Our vision is for exceptional medical research to innovate and enhance health care for the benefit of the community. We achieve this through a commitment to academic medicine; discovering, developing, translating and commercialising new biological solutions to disease so they can benefit patients everywhere.
Working with our partners, we have secured $100 million in funding from the Federal Government to build a new translational research institute which will become a powerhouse for medical research in the southern hemisphere. The facility will form the heart of a world-class health and medical biotechnology precinct which will recognise and embrace the MMRI’s expertise in biological solutions to disease.
I would like to thank the Sisters of Mercy and Mater Heath Services for their extraordinary vision, generosity and ongoing support which have made our achievements possible.
