New prayer space
In late 2007, the Mater Pastoral Care Team established an Ecumenical Prayer Space, Quiet in the chaos, for people to take the time to rest and reflect in a sacred place.
This reflection space is based on best practice observed in Copenhagen, Denmark. It provides staff, patients and hospital visitors with a quiet place to pray and reflect, with some guiding activities from members of the Mater Pastoral Care Team if they wish to participate.
Available on the first Wednesday of each month from 8 am to 4 pm, the ecumenical prayer space began in The Chapel on level three of the Mater Children’s Hospital and will soon move to The Chapel on level six of the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.
