Breast Care Unit

Mater Private Breast Care Unit offers professional personal service for people with problems and disorders of the breast. It has been established to provide expert consultative clinical diagnosis and treatment for people of all ages.

At Mater Private Breast Care Unit, they understand the importance of combining service and expertise with comprehensive support options for patients. With this in mind, they offer:

Breast Care Nurse

To provide exceptional care to their patients, Mater Private Breast Care Unit employs a full-time, specialist Breast Care Nurse, Sally Graham.

The Breast Care Nurse is able to assist patients who need to go to hospital; they can arrange a preadmission visit to the ward and are available by telephone or appointment for patients and their support people prior to admission.

Once admitted to hospital, the Breast Care Nurse will visit patients each day to spend some time with them and to listen to how they are feeling. They will provide patients with extra information to help them understand and adjust to what they are going through.

When it is time to go home, the Breast Care Nurse helps patients to prepare for their discharge and can answer questions even after they have gone home.

chicks in pink—the Thinking Chicks Charity

As the daughters, granddaughters, sisters, nieces, friends and supporters of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, Chicks in Pink was formed as fund raising support to the Mater Private Breast Care Unit. The aim of chicks in pink is to increase community awareness of breast cancer through fun and education fundraising events. In consultation with the team at the Mater Private Breast Care Unit, items of need are purchased with the funds raised. Purchases will be practical, tangible, and relevant, providing immediate benefit to women with breast cancer.
