Environmental responsibility

As a major health care provider, which functions 24-hours per day, and one of Queensland’s largest businesses, Mater Health Services has a significant impact on the natural environment. We acknowledge this as both a challenge and a responsibility and we are working closely with our partners and suppliers to deliver on a commitment to reduce our environmental impact whilst continuing to provide health services for a growing number of people.

Some of the initiatives introduced during 2007 include the Mater Bicycle Users Group, Waste Management Committee, recycling of cooking oils from Hotel Services, Water Management, new buildings compliant with ecological best practices, and the ecoBiz partnership at Redland.
